Tagna Groove

Mohamed Errebbaa and Tagna Groove

We journeyed south with Mohamed Errebbaa Gnawa Experience
6-piece African/Moroccan sacred groove
Soaring vocals and bass-heavy grooves to lift the spirits and dance
Soaring vocals and bass-heavy grooves. Ancient African Gnawa songs backed by delicate harp and flute, trumpet solos, soulful harmonies; African drum kit beats, traditional metal castanets and minimalist jazz keys.
Sacred spiritual music connecting Arab music of the North and the music of sub-Saharan Africa with Sufi mysticism.

ABOUT THE BAND
Mohamed Errebbaa performed with traditional Sufi musicians in Rabat, Morocco from the age of 10, and received the title of Maalem, (Master) at the age of 28 having been taught by many of the great Gnawa masters. He came to the UK in 2020 and plays with international musicians and at many popular festivals. Mohamed performed with a selection of talented UK based musicians for the Stroud Sacred Music festival this year.
An evening of global music that saw intensity, power chords and stories of arrival and departure. The performance harnessed the deep trance power of the Gnawa repertoire and showcased new material, bringing elements of desert blues and heavy groove to lift the spirits and dance.
Global music and songs with intensity, power and storytelling
